A parents nightmare....

I truly wish this boy a speedy recovery. I am not sure what I would do or even think if something like this happened to one of my children. You cannot take the pain away for them and you are almost left not being able to help. I think the toughest job I have ever had is being a parent.

Compared to the day to day responsibilities of being a parent my time as an NCO in the army, as a bounty hunter, brewer and poker dealer were all walks in the park.

Story here.

Senior defenseman Luke Green of Austin is in intensive care at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester after being injured Monday in the Packers' 4-3 overtime loss at New Ulm.

He has a spinal injury and paralysis below his shoulders after crashing headfirst into the boards after colliding with an opponent early in overtime.

After a 15-minute delay, Green was taken off of the ice on a stretcher and flown to Rochester.

Austin coach Troy Holtz said the hit on Green was neither cheap nor violent: "It's unfortunately just part of the game."

"We're all pulling for him," Packers goalie Jack Lynch said.

The senior class held a moment of silence for Green on Tuesday, and a room was set up in the library for grieving students.

"There's a lot of crying going on," Austin principal Joe Brown said. "There's still hope that he'll recover."

Green, 17, had slight movement in a few toes, his family said Tuesday in a statement released by Austin High School.
