We are planning on a few small projects around the house this week. Nothing major but we promised ourselves that as we saved a bit we would work on some of the things that we just do not like in the house like the paint in the upstairs bathroom and the back deck which appears to have never had any type of sealer or finish applied to it.
This week we are going to power wash the deck and then put down a sealer with a redwood stain in it. Hopefully add some "life" to the deck as well as a bit more value to the property. I am also going to have the benches that were built in to the deck taken out. They are cheap and flimsy and never used so they are really just taking up space we have better use for so they are gone.
We are also going to be painting our oldest sons room and "his" bathroom. His room is currently celtic blue (from Behr paint) and we are going to leave that as a base color and add a second tone to the top of the wall. We are then going to paint the bathroom a lighter color then it is right now but we have not finished deciding between the 2 we have narrowed it down to. While I liked the color when we painted it 3 years ago it is now too dark and I really want to lighten the room up.
Not much of a project but we also had a shoestring budget to work with so we wanted to keep it simple. The only thing I really have left on the list is to add a set of track lights to the bathroom so that we can solve the lighting problem. Only one window in the bathroom and it faces south into another house so it does not get much lighting.
Oh yes, we have decided to go with the eggshell finish that Behr has as it is cleanable and having a pre-teen and a toddler the walls can get fairly dirty very quickly. Nothing better then being able to take a sponge to the wall and having it come clean.

just popping by to wish you guys a happy 4th of july ... :o)
Thanks! I spent it at Home Depot buying paint and deck stain. They had a special 10% off for all Military Veterans so I figured what the heck.
